Frequently Asked Questions

Q What types of stone do I use?

Primarily Vermont Marble, Italian Marble, Colorado and Utah Alabaster, Indiana Limestone, Verde Antique marble, Tennessee Marble, Chinese Marble

Q Do I know what I’m doing beforehand?

Sometimes I have an idea or a vision so I look for a piece of stone that speaks to that idea. Other times I just start working until I see an image emerging and I go with it.

Q Have I ever had a sculpture break while working on it?

Touchy subject, but unfortunately yes.

Q Can I put the sculpture outside?

Marbles yes, but it also depends on how it was polished. If it hasn’t been polished Marble can absolutely go outside. Limestone can as well. Alabaster sculptures need to be kept indoors.

Q Do I ship?

Yes, I typically use the UPS Store. They pack it securely and it’s insured through UPS. Shipping prices can be provided if you are interested in a sculpture.

Q Do I do commission work?

Typically no, I feel it influences my creative freedom and what I provide to you may not be what you had in mind.

Q How do I care for my sculpture?

Even though it’s stone, it’s still semi fragile. When displaying ensure it is on a sturdy surface. Depending on weight and size, some sculptures will require a custom built display stand to accommodate the weight if you wish to display above floor level. Do not use any cleaners or solvents on the sculpture. Dust or use a soft cloth to wipe.

Q Where can you find my work?

I'm based out of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Contact me for an appointment. I had work on display at The Michigan Artists Gallery located in Traverse City, Michigan, but unfortunately this gallery had to close during 2020. I generally attend a couple of art shows each year in Michigan and Ohio.
